This safari takes you on a magical African safari, introducing you to the wonders of the bush in the famous Masai Mara plains and witness some of the best wildlife in the world before unwinding along the calm turquoise shores of the Indian Ocean in Lamu or Diani, Kenya’s best beaches. Itinerary
On arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Nairobi Hotel for an overnight stay. This is an ideal opportunity to relax and acclimatize before your adventure begins the following morning.
After breakfast, your driver will transfer you by road to Masai Mara. Masai Mara is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves. Enjoy the scenery of the acacia dotted plains, abundant wildlife, and an array of birdlife. Watch out for the pride of lions stalking their prey, observe a herd of elephants and their fascinating social structure among other wildlife. Arrive at your camp for lunch. After lunch, you will have time to unpack and settle in as you explore your surroundings. Later, meet with your guide for your afternoon game drive. For approximately 2-3 hours you are sure to have some of the best wildlife sightings that Masai Mara National Reserve has to offer. Return to camp for the dinner followed by story sharing and stargazing around the fireplace.
Rise early for a morning game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy driving across the vast Mara Plains and keep your eyes open, for anything is possible! Watch out for the herd of elephants and listen to the distinctive lion's roar. Head back to camp for breakfast. After breakfast, you will set out for a Camp walk adventure get to know some of the elements that make up for the conservation efforts that promote cohesion of both the wildlife and Maasai community within the camp's environment. Enjoy dinner, followed by story sharing and stargazing around the fireplace. Retire to your tent and be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the savannah.
Wake up early to the sights, sounds, and smells of the African bush. Together with your guide, you will embark on a bushwalk. During the walk, your Maasai guide will introduce you to the finer details of life on the savannah, including showing you how to interpret tracks and recognize the Small Five. Head back to camp for breakfast. Spend the rest of the morning enjoying the tranquil surroundings and the wildlife passing by. Round off your afternoon with an evening game drive. At sunset, you will stop over at a scenic spot to enjoy a Sundowner with drinks and snacks. As darkness sets in embark on a thrilling night game drive which allows you to see predators on the prowl and the many nocturnal animals that live in the conservancy. Return to Camp for dinner, and story-telling around the fireplace.
Spend your last day at leisure waking up to a late breakfast or join your Maasai guide for a last morning game drive. Now that this safari has come to an end, say your goodbyes. Arrive at the airstrip in time for your flight to Nairobi where you will board a connecting flight to Lamu. In Lamu, you will be met at the airport and transferred via boat ride to your Lamu hotel. After checking in, head out to enjoy a sunset walk along the beach to familiarize yourself with the area. Return to the resort in time for dinner and entertainment.
Spend your day exploring the narrow and winding streets or stroll along the waterfront, exploring Lamu Old Town (a World Heritage Site). The most important attractions are the fishing and vegetable markets, Lamu Fort, Lamu Museum, and Lamu Old Town. On this tour, you will learn about the rich history of the town. Enjoy a donkey ride around the town center where you can buy your souvenirs. Better still you can sunbathe on the pristine beaches, or enjoy the available water sports, like scuba diving and snorkeling.
Today you will be transferred by boat (30 min) to Manda Island. This is an unspoiled, and idyllic island of the Lamu archipelago. Visit the Takwa Ruins and the Great Mosque at Takwa situated on the south side of Manda Island founded around the year 1500 and abandoned around 1700. Later have the rest of the time to swim and explore the Manda beach. As you head back to your hotel enjoy a sunset cruise. The sunset cruise is tranquil and romantic.
Wake up to a leisurely breakfast. The rest of the morning you spend at leisure followed by lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi to catch your onward flight.
